About Francis Ali
Founder of Power-Plus Sports

Francis Ali’s tennis journey spans over three decades, encompassing every level of the game—from junior competition to collegiate play and professional coaching.

Raised in Fiji Islands, Francis excelled as a junior tennis player, reaching a career-high international junior ranking of #135. His talent and dedication earned him the opportunity to represent Fiji and Pacific Oceania in Davis Cup competition, giving him invaluable experience on the international stage.

After a successful junior career, Francis continued his tennis ventures throughout the Pacific as an ITF Regional Director and in the U.S., playing collegiate tennis at Georgia Perimeter College from 1992 to 1994. His time as a collegiate athlete further honed his competitive edge and deepened his understanding of the game. These experiences laid the foundation for his future roles as a coach, mentor, and leader in the tennis world.

In 2017, Francis faced a life-changing event when he underwent two below-the-knee amputations following a severe traffic accident. Despite this, his unwavering passion for tennis drove him to return to the sport as soon as possible. Whether coaching from a wheelchair or using prosthetic legs, he continued to inspire students with his resilience and dedication. His story is a powerful testament to perseverance, as he even taught his young daughter, Brianna, during his recovery.

As a USPTA Elite Professional, Francis has accumulated a wealth of coaching experience, having worked with athletes of all ages and skill levels. His roles have included Director of Tennis at several prestigious clubs, High Performance Program Consultant, and College Athlete Scout. His expertise in developing players and creating successful programs is evident in his ability to consistently grow participation, improve player performance, and build thriving tennis communities.

Beyond coaching, Francis brings a unique perspective to

Power-Plus Sports through his extensive experience in business management. He has successfully managed tennis facilities, led staff training programs, and overseen operations, including budgeting and customer service. His leadership style emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to excellence, ensuring that every athlete receives top-tier instruction in a well-organized and supportive environment.
